Contemporary Oil Paintings

My work is an intuitive exploration into those physical spaces that shape not only one's environment, but also, an inner life. Bridging abstraction and representation, my landscapes are musings really -- of places I'd like to be or memories of places I have been. The inherent poetry and drama of skies and clouds combined with the spaciousness of land and water vistas inspire much of my work.

As always, my paint-caked palette knives and favorite brushes are employed. Paint is often thickly laid on then scraped back and reapplied, revealing layers of intertwined semi-transparent and opaque paints and thicknesses. The mood I wish to express in a painting will often determine texture, color and composition.
 
My paintings have been juried into national shows and museums exhibitions, and I've had exhibitions in Santa Fe & Taos. My work resides in collections across North America.

A transplanted Canadian, it is now my great joy to share a Colorado studio with my husband Wes Hyde, a noted diverse-works artist and plein air painter. I am a member of Plein Air Artists Colorado.
