On the Easel: Sunflower Work-in-Progress (WIP)

Sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers and I have been wanting to paint them for quite some time. Here's a couple of work-in-progress pictures and a picture of the completed painting. My favorite tools, assorted painting knives & fingers were used to create this heavy-impasto, 24" x 30" oil painting.


Inital scrub-&-glob-in. Yup, it's the "Ugly Phase."



Basic shapes in and now the fun part begins -- refining!

The paintings are on display online at the Dana Gallery for the Oil Painters of America 2008 National Exhibition.


My husband's painting, "Cloverleaf Spurs & Choke Cherries" (shown) is included in this year's national exhibition.

Lorca's Black Vase
I'm pleased to announce that my painting, Lorca's Black Vase has been accepted into the Expressions West 2008 Exhibition at the Coos Art Museum in Coos Bay, Oregon, April 25 - July 5, 2008.
